Heatwave Helpers

It’s late August. Over the past three months, I’ve experimented with various cooling strategies to stay active—and sane—through persistent desert heatwaves. This doodle is a snapshot of some small but mighty tools that helped me along the way!

Nothing revolutionary here, but these tactics played a big role in keeping me running, working, and building outdoors on a desert mountain in 100+°F heat—without AC, ice, or shade. (Update: it’s a new year now, and thankfully, we have a bit of shade, ice, and AC!)

IMPORTANT REMINDER: take this with a grain of salt (or a scoop of electrolytes)—because we all respond differently! Heat can be dangerous for many individuals. Please consult your physician before trying new strategies.
